Pink-Footed Geese Migration | Fine Art Photography Print

We heard them before we saw them. Walking through the old graveyard in Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire, among weathered headstones and rows of military graves, the quiet was broken by a rising chorus of calls overhead. We looked up and there they were: a skein of pink-footed geese, moving in perfect sync above the treetops.

Every autumn, thousands of pink-footed geese arrive in north-east Scotland for the winter, and their calls are one of the true sounds of the season here. This photograph holds that fleeting moment of order and wildness, the geese in formation against the sky and the dark line of trees below.

A thoughtful piece for nature lovers, birdwatchers and anyone with a soft spot for Aberdeenshire, it brings a sense of calm, movement and seasonal change to a living room, hallway or study.
