The Medieval Tomb of Tarves | Fine Art Photography Print
Explore Aberdeenshire's historic heritage with The Medieval Tomb of Tarves, a photographic print of the Tolquhon Tomb in Tarves churchyard.
The story behind the tomb
Erected in 1589 by William Forbes, 7th Laird of Tolquhon, the memorial commemorates Forbes and his wife, Elizabeth Gordon. Forbes was also responsible for the expansion of nearby Tolquhon Castle between 1584 and 1589, connecting this churchyard monument to an important chapter in the area's history.
Although the artwork's gallery title calls it medieval, the tomb dates to late-16th-century Renaissance Scotland.
Bring a connection to Scotland's past into your study, living room or office. A thoughtful gift for lovers of Tarves, Scottish heritage and historic architecture.
